We’re all cracked pots…!!

A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the House, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of it's own imperfection. And miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you. I have been able to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw. So I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house?

Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. Remember to appreciate all the different people in your life.

Taming the Tongue

When we speak/deal with each other, let us sincerely believe and pray that, "Lord let me do no harm in what I do, and if I err, let it be on the side of love," then we are doing our best to control ourselves.

Read this passage on "Taming the Tongue"
Now if we put the bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, we direct their entire body as well. Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder, wherever the inclination of the pilot desires. It only takes a little prayer, and our willingness to let God be in control to keep a great many things in check, and upon the proper course, including ourselves; So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!

And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members (other organs in our body) as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. When we speak forth evilness, we are actually spreading the fires of hell. Would we knowingly work for Satan? I doubt it. But we do every time we speak forth something ungodly. We all need to think more about this, really think about it, that we would focus more of our attention upon the Lord our God. For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by the human race.
But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.

Remember James wrote this nearly 2,000 years ago, and it is just as true today as it was then.

With it (tongue) we bless our Lord and Father; and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Neither can salt water produce fresh.

Therefore, we have to ask ourselves, "Do true believing and loving individuals produce other believing and loving individuals?" And the answer is probably, "Yes!" But then we have to ask ourselves, personally, "Am I, by what I say and do, produce other believing and loving individuals?" And it's as we answer this question, that we come to know whether or not we have learned to tame our tongue.

So James asks us a question, and gives us direction.

Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.

(Passage from the book of James, The Holy Bible)

Words without sense...

A few words (common greetings), phrases that have lost their sanctity now...
by Manohar G Lazarus

Hi, How are you?
It has become a common greeting these days: "Hi, how are you?" And, don't be a fool to respond to the latter part. It wasn't meant to hear a reply. People now-a-days, specially in corporate, throw that at each other as if it was a single word - 'Hihowareyou?', like 'Hi'. A quick but only a partial adaptation of the western greeting style.

Thank you!
No, silly! It's not what it means! It was a currency to pay you off for whatever you've done. Thank you. I don't O U. That's it! NO feelings attached. Don't take it too hard. It's all the more better if you do not have any expectations of favour from me because of this.

Bless you!
What? Is that supposed to have some sense? You just sneezed, that's all!

Sorry!
The most widely used global currency of words. Acceptable for all, wherever, whenever, with whoever... Whether apologetic or not, say sorry and get the bugger off your back. "I just said sorry man; what else do you want me to do? eh?"

Mornin'! / Afternoon / Evenin'
There's nothing good here! Whoever ate that preceding 'Good' has left the greeting as a mere piece of 'obviously known' information. Gosh! Thank God, it's 'Good night' at least, and not 'Night' alone.

Credibility Matters...

There was a man, who had a friend who was poor and a builder by profession. So, this guy thought of helping his friend. So he visits the builder and gives him a $ 200,000 check. Tells him, that he trusts him and asks him to build a house for him, which should be excellent and any decision can be taken by him. Also promises if the job was good enough, he’ll pay him a more handsome amount.

The builder being a poor man, saw so much money at once, instead of serving his friend/customer to the fullest, started scheming ways to make money out of it. So, he started cutting corners, got the cheapest material, cheapest iron, cheapest furniture, and thought: It was all anyways gonna be painted, and no one will know about it. He saved about $ 45000 – 50000. Excited after finishing the house, he makes a call to his friend to see his work.

The owner of the house arrives, and looks at the house, and is impressed. He then looks at his friend, thanks him, and takes the keys of the house and hands them over to the builder saying, “this is for you. I wanted to help you”.

The builder just stood wondering “if only I knew it before, I would have built a stronger mansion!” This house was, but a ruin!

Now, more than we realize, we also are building a house. And this house is our own future. In the process of building it, we might cheat others, back-talk, stab others behind, scheme ways to profitability; but we forget, whatever action we take, we are answerable to everything.

Remember that old saying: “You are what you are, when no one sees you”. And, that’s very true. It’s your CREDIBIILTY that will matter. The sacrifices you make to live an honest life, determines what you live to be and gain in the future.

If you cannot stand up righteous in smaller matters, remember, no one will entrust you with matters of greater importance.

I like this verse from The Bible, where Jesus Christ says: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

Hope, this message has meant good to at least one of you.

That's Not My Job..

This's a story about four people: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn't do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody have done.

So please don't wait for Everybody, Somebody & Anybody because Nobody will do your work.....!!!
